Comments on the 2009 run:

"A warm sunny day for a very scenic and pleasant run through the grounds of Blenheim Palace. The route followed paths and trails around the lakes, gardens, arboretums and the famous birth place of Winston Churchill.

A great Fun run and family day as it included free access to the palace grounds for all runners and supporters.

Harry Hailwood (12yrs) completed his longest run to date and managed a 7K PB of 54min 32sec. A full minute faster than the man dressed as a banana but a little behind the two ballerinas! This would have placed him first in the 12 and under category, but there wasn't one.

He reckons he would have done much better if he did not have to wait for his Dad, Paul, who struggled on the hills, messed about and generally let the side down! Harry enjoyed the race so much he intends to enter more in the future. Next time he will get those ballerinas!"

"This was the first event I have ever entered so I have nothing to compare it with as I only started running for the first time in January 2009 but I thoroughly enjoyed the day.  It was well organised, very friendly and I really enjoyed the warm up before the race, over all a great 1st race experience for me and I would like to say well done for everyone involved and I look forward to coming back next year."

"This was my third running of what is my local event and I'm pleased to say that the race day experience (as well as my finish times) have improved every year. The organisation is excellent - I particularly enjoyed the pre-race warm up routines! And the public announcement system was worthy of a much bigger event. It really is a nice touch to learn about the race statistics and the achievements of individual runners as they cross the finish line.

The route is excellent and combines some challenging up hill and multi-terrain sections with some very enjoyable downhill slopes. And the inflatable finish archway is a very impressive and welcome sight for tired legs!

Thanks again, I thoroughly enjoyed my experience and hope to come back again and again in future years!"

"Overall review of the Blenheim 7K Fun Run - Was Fun, as promised. The scenery rocked as well. Will do again!

Today I went through my first 7K, which was at Blenheim, and was A-MAZ-ING. ... The best part about this run is the scenery, which is truly spectacular. I was just awestruck not only with the nice woods and the little lodges I saw tucked away here and there, but the simple fact that people like Queen Elizabeth I went riding around the area HUNDREDS of years ago.

I finished near the back of the pack, which was fine. And I did pass the man in the bananna suit, which suited me well, though the guy in the cricket kit really booked it and I never saw him again. Oddly enough there was this woman I was sorted of paced with, who near the end started to weave the course, but then at the finish she cut me off to 'beat' me. Yes, even us slowpokes have a bit of competitive nature in us."

"First race for me so a bit special. Some undulating bits but fine if you are used to training in the area. Hot today with minimal shade (even in the woodland bits). Very friendly, lots of encouragement and no worries about being last (my biggest fear)."
