SUNDAY 13 MAY 2012
Starts at 11 am
Entries are now open for the Blenheim 7k run and Junior 1 mile run which will take place at Blenheim Palace, Woodstock, Oxfordshire on 13 May.
The run takes a scenic route around the trails and paths of Blenheim Palace, taking you past the Palace and over theGrandBridge, before a spectacular lakeside section. Entry to the race includes entry to the grounds, designed by Capability Brown ad described as “the finest view in England.”
The Junior race, open to under 15s, starts just after the main 7k and makes the event a great family day out. And entry entitles you to entry to the grounds, so after the race take your time to enjoy the surroundings, or visit the Palace (not included).
The 7k course is suitable for all ages and abilities. It offers a challenging run for the more experienced, and beautiful surroundings for the beginner or anyone who wants to take a more leisurely pace.
All competitors receive a medal, and there are prizes for the first man and woman, first man over 40, 50, and 60 and first woman over 35, 45, and 55, as well as the first girl and boy under 15.
For the junior race, there are prizes for the first girl and boy, and first girl and boy under 15, 12, and 9.
Entry costs £10.00 for adults and £5.00 for under 15s. Entry includes entry to the Palace grounds.

Hello, you must click on the hyperlink “enter” just below the large blenheim 7k logo at the top of this page, it’s self expanatory from there.
Serious question – is the 7k friendly for those who wish to walk the course?
Yes, that is fine. It is a beautiful course round the Blenheim estate.

Great to see that this race is back on. It is such a fantastic venue!
Will the 7k race be chip timed as in previous years? Pity the info on the race is so late this year. Do you know why? Different organisers?
It would also be great to get the link back to view previous years results for the different races.
Thanks
Yes the 7k is chip timed again – and thanks for your comments. It is later this year because of the way the Bank Holiday falls. There are other events on at Blenheim during peak holiday times.
Last year’s site went down, so this is a quick WordPress site to get entries up and running this year. I will get old times posted up, photos and films, when I get the chance.
Best wishes
Saraah
Hi, I have just entered the 7k race, can you advise on the route map or will this be in the entry pack? Also do spectators need to purchase an entry ticket for the day?
Thank you
I will put the route map onto the site for you to see, and the entry packs will have details. Spectators in the same car should be OK without an entry ticket to see the race.
Hi
Can the whole family enter the 7k to walk/run, and can I confirm that medals are given to finishers?
Yes you can take it slow and enjoy the scenery, Medals are given out at the end.
Hi,
My children and I have not received our race numbers yet, there is only just over a week to go, could you check this out for me please?
Regards
Jane
Numbers will go out at the beginning of next week first class. Or if you prefer we can hold it for collection on race day.
Can you send them please? I hate not having my number in my hand on race morning!
Thank you
Yes, they are in the post, pleasse contact me again if they haven’t arrived by friday.
The enter link isn’t working
There is a problem with the site that handles online entry. It is being looked at, at the moment, and hopefully will be back up and running very soon. Thanks for letting me know.
Best wishes
Sarah
YOu should have them by the end of the week at the latests
Can you enetr on the day?
We aim to work with advance entries as otherwise it is very hard to ensure that we have enough medals, admin etc.
Can you pay on the day to run this race?
We try not to have on the day entries as it is hard to get the admin organised for entries, queueing and the number of medals we need! We will keep online entries open until 9 am on saturday.
I applied and received payment confirmation some weeks back but as yet have not received the race number etc. Please could you advise when I can expect to receive this.
Thanks
Jo
Hi Jo, entry numbers are in post this week, if nothing arrives by Friday we will reissue with a number. Best wishes, Sarah
I’m trying to complete payment for entry, but it isn’t working. Do you allow entry on the same day?
I am sorry you have been experiencing a problem. We will keep entries open until Saturday 12th at 9 am. We try to minimise on the day entries as it makes it very hard to plan the run.
Hi
Is it too late to enter? Also, only half our family will be running, so would members of the family not running get entry to the grounds or would they need to pay separately for this?
thanks
You can still enter in advance through the web site until 9 am on Saturday 12th. Your family will be fine coming with you in the same car (just have your number at the ready). The gate attendants will wave you through to the Pleasure Gardens.
Best wishes
Sarah
Hello,
I asked a while back about running with a jogging stroller and have not heard anything back yet. My son and I love running together, please could you answer.
Emilie
Apologies for the delay, I am afraid that I have had alot of spam come back and it must have been overlooked. Most of the course (but sadly not all) is suitable. We use the hard tarmaced path around the Blenheim grounds but with a significant exception: We use the path that goes down by the lakeside, and that is rough ground. So I am afraid it isn’t suitable for strollers.
Best wishes
Sarah
Hi Sarah.
I’ve entered my two Grandsons, I’ve not received their numbers yet, should I have received them by now?
Regards, Ted
THey should be with you by Friday at the latest. if not please email enquiries@blenheim7k.co.uk and we will organise replacements
What time does the children’s 1 mile fun run start? Thx Julia
The children’s run starts just after the main race, so about 11.05
Is it still possible to enter the kids fun run? the “enter” link isn’t working…
Hi. No race numbers have arrived for me and my friend. I can see that you were posting them this week, but haven’t had them yet. If they don’t arrive by Saturday, do we pick them up on the day?
We sent out a large batch in one go, since alot of runners leave it until the last week or two before registering. All entries received up until 2pm yesterday (Wed (8th May) are in the post. If yours does not arrive in time, either email me on enquiries@blenheim7k.co.uk or come to race HQ before the race to get a new number.
Hi, I had confirmation of my entry payment on 23rd April but I have still not received my entry pack and running number! I can’t seem to find a phone number on your website to call anyone and check where it is.
Thanks
Race numbers are in the post, please email enquiries@blenheim7k.co.uk if they do not arrive by Friday and we will reassign numbers.
My race number has arrived, but not my husbands. Worried as the address on the front of the envelope to me did not have the house number or road. Not sure how it found me. Can my husband collect his on the day instead?
Both numbers would have gone out separately, and there was a small batch of about 5 labels that came out without full address details. We thought we had caught them all and re-addressed them. If your husband’s does not arrive please email me at enquiries@blenheim7k.co.uk and we will organise a new number to be allocated for collection on the day.
Hi, I only heard about this from friends last night (Friday 11th) who asked us to join them. Is it possible to still enter for myself and two sons under 15 years old despite being later than 9am on the day before?

Great weather! Great race! Great course! Great organisation!
Thanks a lot, it was an amazing first race experience for me!
So glad you enjoyed it, hope to see you again next year!
Hi, any chance of seeing the 7k results? The link doesn’t seem to work? Thanks for a fun day and for the excellent warm up session.
HOpe you have found the link working, if not please let me know and I will check it once more.
Hiya, had a great day on Sunday (also ran last year) we invited some friends along this year and we were pleased when our friends son came second in the under 9 category for the kids 1 mile, his name was anounced as comming second and he excitedly ran to the area were the lady commentator was standing, only to recieve nothing …… I would have thought to encourage the youngsters there could have been a small gift, or just don’t anounce his name. It did’nt spoil the day for us, as we were pleased for him doing so well but for an 8 year old it was a bit of a let down. This was a small negative in what was a very enjoyable and fun day, I just feel it had to be reported as feed back for your future events.
I am sorry. We do try to give as many prizes as possible, and can see the issue. I suppose on balance we thought it best to applaud his achievement as a runer up, rather than not. The reason for not supplying runners up trophies is down to economics. At only £5 a head for the juniors we have to pay for the number, medal, entry to Blenheim, prizes and a share of overheads such as medical cover, the arch, water, postage etc. There isn’t alot left over. I am afraid we are due a price increase, and maybe next year we will do runners up too.
However, I am pleased you enjoyed the day. Not least, we were lucky to get a window in the weather.
